i got my turtles about 3 months ago, but the guy couldn't tell me their age, is their a way to determine how old they are, and whether it's a female or male?

Unless you have had you're turtle since day 1 (day of birth) there is no way of telling how old you're turtles are.

And about the sex, if they are under 4 inches then you cannot tell, until they reach atleast 4 inches. So be patient and wait a year or so if you're turtles are currently small.
