hi folks...

so, me and my friend thought it would be fun to let my turtles run around my room. well, we took our eyes off them for like a minutes and one was gone. pretty sure it crawled under my door and out into my house. we've only been looking for it for like 15 minutes. does anyone have any tips on how to find a turtle?? will it come back when it wants back in the water??

oh, and dont worry, i know it was dumb so if thats what you want to tell me then just save your time...

thanks for all the useful help though

You can place several small dishes full of water around the house and also fill some of them with turtle food to attract him/her to it. You might want to try putting something smelly like tuna in front of a fan to spread the smell. Look in hard to reach places where he/she might be.

How big is your turtle? They like to crawl under tight places so look underneath everything (furniture, pillows, clothes, etc.)

stop beating yourself up over it, what you did wasn't that bad. someone already posted a link to good tips for lost turtles. and i would definitely agree with everyone that says leave no stone unturned. whenever my little ones are landbound the first thing they do is try to find a spot to hide.

good luck!

Live and learn! ;) When I went to pick up my turtles from their previous owner, we turned our backs for a minute. When I went to pick up the turtles to bring them home, the big female had crawled out of the tub and disappeared. We eventually found her on the other side of the house wedged under the TV stand. Ugh, I had wanted to get out of that place quickly but wound up going through the entire place trying to find her. Not fun.
