for pellets? i only feed mine pellets once a day. then about 4 hours later i'll come back with plenty of veggies for them to spend the next couple hours snacking on. the pellets are more of a supplement than a meal.

Are you talking about pellets? Here's some info on pellets:

http://www.redearslider.com/pellets.html

If your turtles are still little (under about 4 inches), you should feed them the amount of pellets that would fit in their heads if their heads were hollow every day. If you want to break up the amount into a bunch of little meals, that would be fine as long as you don't go over the headful-a-day in total.

In fact, the good thing about breaking up the amount into little meals is that the turtles will more quickly come to associate you with feeding time, and will therefore be more glad to see you!

Don't follow the instructions on the container (I've seen some doozies), I think they're there to get you to buy more pellets, since you'd be using them up faster. Is your turtle healthy with you feeding him once a day? About how many pellets are you giving at a feeding? Do you provide variety in the diet and feed other foods besides pellets?

I think you wrote a few days ago that your turtle wasn't eating pellets. Is your turtle eating them now?

Yea, like fish flake food instructions..."Feed as much as your fish will eat in 5 to 10 minutes, twice a day". If you have like 2 fish in a 200 gallon aquarium that might be okay, but not if you've got like 10 fish in a little 20 gallon like most people! You'll quickly have a tank full of brown ammonia soup in no time. XP

I changed a brand, then he resumed eating. I also give him a night light, and 12 hours UV lighting now. He seems to be happy now. But he is still extremely picky on food. No veggie... I got him some feeder fish. He used to be able to eat 30 fish in 10 days. He is a meat eater....

Try leaving some anachris in the tank. It will last for a good long time (until he decides to eat it).

I read that Wardley isnt that good, and should be supplemented. Anyone have any input on this?

Wardley, at least a while back, lacked some of the nutrients found in some of the other well-known pellets. I think I noticed in one petstore on a container the word "improved." One would have to compare the ingredients in Wardleys with other brands to see the difference. You could always rotate it with another brand of pellets on the days you feed them. As part of the overall diet, they'd be OK.
