General Care Discussion :: strange bump...

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Tue Apr 24, 2007 10:22 pm   strange bump...

Recently I noticed something about Serra. When she's finished eating, especially a LOT of lettuce, the skin between her arms and head sticks out. But now, its usually her left side sticks out and right side doesn't stick out very much...Is this normal for turtles?? When she's hungry or before she eats its the same on both sides. She swims normally, eats normally, and basks regularly. I'll try to post a picture of it when I can.

Ahh She basked and pooped.

Now she's begging for food again and the bump's gone.
Do turtle's left side usually come our more than the right side?
Could it be some sort of disease? Also, she's shedding around her neck, too

I've never noticed that with my turtles. How much does it stick out?

It doesn't stick out too much, it's just not turning inward towards the turt's shell

How much lettuce/food are you feeding her? A picture would be helpful of the bump you are talking about.

Well,Today I fed her and it wasn't abnormal anymore! She is symmetrical once again!

I usually feed her veggies everyday and pellets every other day.
I feed 2 pellets
and I feed veggies (green leaf lettuce, red leaf lettuce, dandelion greens) equal to this amount:

The turtle looks fine to me (and quite attractive).
