General Care Discussion :: How I Can Tell If My Anti-Fungal Treatment Is Working?

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I am treating one of my RES's for fungus on her shell. I have been applying extra-strength Lamasil daily and dry-docking her for a few hours afterward for about two weeks now (I am also cleaning the area with an anti-bacterial agent). The white area of her shell has not spread, and it seems to be turning greener, though it still looks kind of icky (although it is not soft, like the fungus was). Can anybody tell me exactly what I should expect to see if she is being cured, and what I would see if she was not? And how long I should keep applying the anti-fungal agent?

Getting rid of fungus isnt a quick process from what I have read. You should see improvement in a month to maybe more. You should also aim high to stop the spreading, from reading your post..you said it has? If so, then its a good sign and it means that you are going in the right path. Keep dry docking and applying medication to the shell..you should see results sooner or later.

Who diagnosed your turtle with fungus? A vet? Or youself? A picture would be nice..:)
1.1.0Trachemys scripta elegans
0.0.1Sternotherus odoratus
1.1.0Platemys platycephala
0.1.0Pelomedusa subrufa subrufa
0.0.1.Graptemys pseudogeographica

Myself. I've kept sliders for years and know the various ailments and have taken them to the vet when I'm stumped. My experience is that "human" medications (like Lamisil) work fine, for a lot less money, too. I'll work on a picture.
