General Care Discussion :: About UVB Bulb Problems

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I know there has been a bit of talk about the problems with compact fluorescents but in biology today this somehow came up. A lot of people know that when you are tanning, say on a raft in a pool, you get burnt a lot quicker. That is because the water is reflecting the light and rays. If people are focusing their bulbs too much on the water there could be a chance it is increasing the amount of rays the turtle is getting and causing swelling. I don't know if this is the reason, but it is just a thought/suggestion.

Very interesting thought....! Thanks for bringing it up.

I have a Powersun UV (100W) lamp for my Sheba, and so far so good. It is going on 5 months now that I have had this MVB lamp & she seems to love it. And she is an *aggressive* basker.....!
