General Care Discussion :: yay!

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

my car needs some maintenence, so i will be pulling OT for the next couple weeks. that means i won't have much opportunity to update so i'll do it now.

just wanted to let you know that slip & slide are doing good. they're spending more time out of hiding, still a little skittish when they see you but they are active. they've also been eating, i've given them fresh veggies to munch on along with the anacharis. it looks like one rosie got eaten, lastnight my boyfriend and i watched as one of the turts chased a rosie around the tank :)

i found a local turtle adoption place which i'll be contacted before this weekend. i'm going to ask them if i can take part in choosing a new home for them (i saw that one of the turtle rescue sites allowed that). they do checkups on the turtles' health so i'll know if the little ones are sick they'll be taken care of. in the meantime i've raised their water temps to 80 so they can fight off anything they may have. unfortunately i can't take them to the vet right now :( are there any other questions i should ask?

john and aeryn are doing great, they've not lost out on any attention :) still don't see the pleco. i'm getting worried about it =Þ but then i do have some very good hiding spots in my tank, i've lost the turtles themselves in those spots so *crosses fingers*

I wish that more people where like you, caring and when there is a need you help out. That is how I am too, there are just way too many people in this world who don't care.

Also my pleco is a wonderful hider. I found that he is able to slip under this huge rock I have in the tank. And I found that they are creatures of the dark, so at night is when they are active. Which really works out for mine and I hope he lasts. At the pet store yesterday I saw a HUGE pleco. He mush have been about 1" thik and 6-8" long, maybe even bigger I think this maybe one fish story that I am under estimating.

heehee i actually found the pleco about 20 minutes after posting this. i snapped a couple pix, too, which i'll share some time this weekend. no bits taken out of him, and he's pretty helpful (i actually didn't notice how much algae that tank had until i got it. it's not out of control or anything, it's just more noticeable now). i think i'll stick with the farscape theme and call him d'argo.

slip and slide are actually making eye contact with me now :) :)
