Anachris is illegal in CT as well (it was deemed to be invasive last year). I can either go east (RI) or west (NY) for it. It's also been suggested that I take up snorkeling because it's in most of the lakes around here too.

That law sounds like closing the barn door after the cows have escaped.

I tried searching the forums but I didnt seem to find it. Does anyone know where I can get a list of live plants that are safe for the turtle?

My turtles love Anacharis, especially my baby one. Plus I found if I have extra in a seperate tank it will grow. I got it at a local Petsmart and Petco.

Also this is some info from this site.

Here's a link that might help. I followed that information and my turtle LOVES anchoris! I did find it a lot in my filter but I found that most of my plants break off and get in my filter anyway. At the same time since I have put fresh plants in my water it does seem nicer and clearer. I also tried Amazon Swords and Hogwart. Brooksie liked the Amazon Swords, she ate them in a second along with the Anchoris but the Hogwort she pretty much leaves alone unless she's really hungry which is good for me b/c now I know what I can use for decoration and what I can use for her to munch on
