Wow, that's pretty cool, pumpkinsherbert!

There must be something about us turtle owners that makes us so cool!

I've just met more girls who like to fish (and hunt!!

) than I have in my entire life. I know there are a lot who do, I've just never met any.

What part of the country did you grow up in?
I grew up in a suburb in Massachusetts on a dead end road. My parents had 3 acres with a brook in the back yard that the state used to stock with yellow perch, sunfish and catfish. There were also snakes, frogs, migrating turtles, crayfish, eels and sucker fish. I used to fish and explore and catch animals (and then release them cause my Mom wouldn't let me keep them

) all the time as a kid. There was also 80 acres of town forest and trails at the end of the street and a big pond a short hike in. That pond had even more wildlife plus largemouth bass!

That was paradise for me!
Today I own 20 acres that butts up against several hundred acres of forest and logging roads. I cut my own trails for my 4x4 truck and my atv's. I also cleared out a campsite/bonfire pit/target shooting range. There's no water unfortunately but there's deer, lot's of wild turkey, coyotes, and other wildlife, but they're a lot harder to catch than fish and reptiles!
I know what you mean about most people not knowing their way around the outdoors anymore. I started teaching my boys outdoor skills from the time they could walk steady enough on the trails. They know their way around those woods pretty well now. It's funny cause their friends are totally helpless when they go hiking and camping.
Personally, i feel
much more comfortable in the woods than I do around town or in the city. I can find my way through miles of trails and off-trail bushwacking but I have a terrible time trying to find my way through town roads.
