General Care Discussion :: Are these air pockets under the scutes?

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I just found these shiny things in her scutes. I'm guessing they are air pockets? Could they be something else? No, they don't smell.

I hope it's not an infection or something...

The ones along the edge pop off pretty easily, don't pick at them......since Gomie's back to eating normally, her skin is starting to shed and her scutes look like they are all coming loose at the same time!

There are a good number of scutes that will be coming off. The top marginal scutes are being pushed outward by the newer scutes as they grow making a bigger yellow rim. (I do help scutes come off, but only if it's obvious they're ready to and there's no resistance if I lift the edge.)
