Toots had the abscess removed and needs to stay out of the water for a week. To make things worse, right after coming home from Toots' appointment my sister's dog was acting drunk. We rushed him to the vet and the vet said he had a stroke. He is doing much better now and has an appointment in the morning for a check up.

 Wow it's been a stressful and busy day for you! I'm glad Toots got the abscess removed. She should get better now that that's taken care of. I hope your sister's dog is okay. :(

I'm sorry you and everyone - your sister, your sister's dog and your turtle - had such a tough day. Tomorrow will be better. Like David said, Toots will be healing now.

Hi ladygodiva, did the vet give you instructions on hydrating Toots, on feeding and any medications?

Yes he did and Toots is eating very well. He said to put a little water in the tank to keep Toots hydrated but not deep enough to gets Toots' cheek wet. Toots needs to be like that for a week. I'm kind of worried about Toots getting cold without a heater. Should I just keep her light on longer? My sister's dog is doing much better. His next vet visit is in a week for a check up.

Glad to hear both Toots and your sister's dog are doing OK.

How cool is the room Toots is in? If you think you need to keep her warmer, you could get a red heat light to use temporarily until you can put her in deeper water. You can keep the light on 24/7 and it won't interfere with her being able to sleep. Covering a portion of the tank would also help keep in the warmth.
