General Care Discussion :: My turtle has discoloured limbs??

the responsibility of my <not-mine> turtle has been thrown to me!??!!! gawd .. anyway, i just noticed that he has discoloured front and back limbs? i dont know how to post up pictures here so i'll try my best to describe his condition ..

the limbs are of normal size etc .. but instead of yellow lines, its a kind of faded yellow tiny blotch all over each limb. all four legs look faded/discouloured . the green is rather faded (is this the cause of it staying in the water for too long?) and the yellow blotches are about the color of the plastron ..

btw, this turtle has moved in with me for about a week , but when my sis got this turtle from the pet store in the beginning, he looks perfectly fine just the usual stress, shyness due to his change of environment. and his female friend/companion just died due to the lack of care from my dear sister. so maybe this has something to do with his condition as well? hope to treat him fast ..

What is the setup like? Size of tank, amount of water, basking/water temps, etc?

By blotches, do you mean the skin is raised, as in bumps or pimples?

Please post a pic of the areas when they're dry.

anyway, im new to RES's and this turtle was initially not mine. so right now, im taking care of it, i havent been able to buy the necessary items in such short notice but will definitely buy them asap. i think temperature is not a prob since i live in a relatively humid and warm climate . will send pics over to your email jenaero

i cant take a picture of him. in water, he keeps moving about . on his basking surface, he "keeps" all his limbs . oh and the yellow is the shade of the plastron but much much much more faded. from far, it looks like white.

btw, the blotches are not bumps. its smth like errrr when someone has white spots?? just that instead of white spots on humans there are whitish/yellowy spots the size "suitable" for him ..

and the shell looks very very dark, the black lines look like they are about the crack (definately unhealthy looking). but the yellow and "other" lines of him is bright.

i know this is hard to picture but im sorry i cant take a picture that u all can actually see the problems ..

Without a pic, it's anyone's guess as to what the problem could be.

A pic of his shell dry that shows at least the area on one of his limbs would be good. You don't have to get them this second. Wait until you catch the turtle with a leg out. Relax, you're doing a good thing, taking care of this turtle.

alright, but hope anyone who perhaps come across an article which is somewhat related wont forget me! :p guess i'll just have to wait until he's more comfortable with his surroundings and meanwhile improve his habitat and just pray and hope that by then he's healthy =) thanks alot for helping

If the black lines are between the scutes (the patches) on his shell, that's fine, those are growth lines, and it means he's growing.
Give him a few days to adjust and then I'm sure you'll be able to post some pics of him.
