hey! i am a rookie! i have moved my 2 turts from a long 20 gal to a 55 gal. i have a 48 inch incan light and can place either my uva basking or uvb light on top but not both. we have indoor cats and are afraid of putting a outer basking area - they can access the zoomed ramp we have. i am open to any and all suggestions and info! - thanx!

Hello and welcome to the forum! :) That's great that you got your turtles a larger tank. When you say you have a 48 inch incan (descent?) light, what exactly do you mean? Do you mean you have a 48 inch light fixture that holds incandescent bulbs? If so, you should be able to fit several bulbs in there, correct? You need to provide your turtles with both an incandescent heat bulb and a uva/uvb bulb. Most uvb bulbs also provide the uva that turtles require. But you also have to have a bulb that will heat up the basking area to 90 degrees.

Hey, Janice told me that the bulb in there is a full-spectrum bulb (whatever that means?) When we were in Petco I showed you that Repsun 5.0 bulb remember? That's what you need whenever you get around to replacing the 48" bulb in the fixture.

How are Shrek & Fiona liking the bigger tank today?

Chris is going to build the stand when he gets home in a couple weeks then we can set it up. I still need to get the XP3 filter for it also, probably when we get back from PA. Post the pic Gav took on here so we can see it!

Her turtles are Shrek and Fiona, and I believe Kermit is one of her frogs, right? Isn't he the one Steven found that a bird dropped? I don't know anything about those to help you, maybe someone else does?
