General Care Discussion :: ? about my Res' behaviour...

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Hmm, one of my male RES has been sleeping/sulking in the corner of the tank a lot during the daytime lately. Although he comes right up to the surface during feeding time and seems to perk up. He also still likes to bask regularly and "stack" with his brother. :D But I just notice him on the bottom in his corner more often than usual. That's been going on a couple of weeks now. I wonder if they just get moody sometimes. :? He looks and acts perfectly healthy otherwise.

David: Sounds the same... hmmm wonder if they just get "sad" sometimes? I'm glad someone else is dealing with this also. She is doing it now. Im thinking she wants a MAN...wherever she sits on the bottom, she can see her reflection... I think she wonders "who" it is. I dunno.
Still havent gotten the fishies today.... YET.... but I think I will try.
David; do you give yours minnows? Do they PERK UP alot when they are around?

I put a dozen rosey reds in a couple of months ago and they chased them around a lot but had a very hard time catching them. Plus I made a safe area in the tank for the minnows to hide in. There's probably 8 or 9 left and they seem to add movement and life to the tank. The other 2 RES are always active. It's just this one guy that's been sulking lately. :?

Crush has been slightly less active and sulking at the bottom more for about a week also. She doesn't go to a corner, she goes around a log that I have in the tank. I have been curious about her as well.

Squirt's acting completely normal though.

Hmmm, maybe rearrange his tank and that should stir him up a little.
