i got two res yesterday and they havent left the darkest spot of the tank since. i think it may just be that they have to adjust to the new tank. i was just wondering if this was normal. and i was worried about them not basking for a period of time while they adjust. how long do you think until they start basking and swimming around more?

They'd probably start swimming around in a day or two. Getting them comfortable enough to bask usually takes a lot longer. Basking isn't a Need to do everyday kinda thing. Sometimes turtles go through an entire week without basking. Other times, they bask the entire day. So you don't need to be worried if they aren't basking in their first few weeks.

yes, they need time to adjust themselves to the new environment.
I think different res has its own time frame to adjust.
