i wanna get another turt
so i wanted to know
what i should look for in the tank and stuff
behavior, environment and stuff?

Also i live in houston texas harris county 77082

What is a good store that keeps the turts healthy and stuff

Cuz i had a bad expreience of buying a turtle from a store with bad environemnt, and sick turtles, and he died

well i want to start fresh

Your turtle died? Sorry to hear that.

Anyway, when looking for turtles at a store, make sure that the habitat they're in is a good one -- decent UVB lights, a good amount of water. Check out the shell and whether or not it's active.

I'm honestly not sure about anything else, though, since I didn't buy mine at a store.

The thing is, even if the turtles look alright, that doesn't mean they're healthy. I've heard they have a fairly slow metabolism and therefore signs of illness take longer to show up. So, really, it's probably best to have a vet check out your turtle as soon as you buy it.

where did u get ur turtle?

A month or so ago my sister dropped her turtle over at my place so I'd watch it while she was on vacation. She'd found it somewhere (in its natural habitat, which is something no one should do) and decided to give it to her kids as a pet.

After telling her what it takes to raise a turtle, which is a whole lot of time and money, she said I could keep it. And now that it's used to captivity I don't think it'd be best now to release it.

And that's how I got my turtle.

If you're set up for an adult turtle, consider applying to turtlehomes.org or a similar rescue organization. I would definitely rather do that than support a pet store that I know doesn't care for its animals. (Even though it's tempting to want to rescue them). If you find a pet store with clean, large enclosures, with proper lighting and basking spots, and the turtles look healthy (active, clear eyes, no discharge from nose or mouth, not gasping, yawning or mouth breathing, no visible fungus or shell abnormalities) you might choose to support them.

i found a couple of stores which my friiend got his from and he said it was taken care of good

Yeah. I wouldn't go to a store I would go to a local turtle rescue and adopt from them.

But i want a baby one like 1 1/2 inches
do they have those at rescue places?

where can i adopt on from?

turtlehomes.org has rescued tons of turtles. you would actually need to call the local one and see if they have baby turtles. i'm sure they do.

I have to agree with Urbancleopatra. Call an rescue. Chances are they have a LOT of RES around and will be happy to help you out.
