General Care Discussion :: I hate filters. Capri died.

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Mon Jul 30, 2007 6:46 pm   I hate filters. Capri died.

I came home today to find my little Capri against the part of the filter where it sucks the water in. It barely sucks. He was so little and weak I guess he couldn't move.... I feel like poo...

I'm so sorry. :( What kind of filter was it?

I'm very sorry. He could have died and then become drawn into the filter. :(

Extremely sorry to hear about your loss... I felt so bad from having pets die that I vowed never to get one ever again at one point, until I got my two RES. I'm willing to bet that it passed away and then the filter sucked it towards it, though, unless you had some sort of very powerful filter without a screen? Regardless, my heartfelt sympathies go out to you. :( My smallest one actually hangs out by the filter nozzle intentionally, so maybe you can feel a bit better in the knowledge that it probably wasn't that...

Sorry to hear your little one died :( . Steve may be right. Something else may have caused it. Is your other one acting normal and healthy?

I'm really sorry.

But I agree with the others -- Capri may have died from some other cause, and was eventually drawn toward the filter. And again, sorry for your loss. :(

I think she only had the one turtle. Her sig lists 2 hermit crabs as her other babies. :?

Hang in there kid! These things happen sometimes, no matter how much love you give them. :(

oh, I thought Capri and Greeny were 2 different turts....

DavidY's right tho....especially with baby turtles. Sometimes they just don't make it, even when all seems well and you give them the best you can.

Greeny and Capri were 2 different turts. Greeny's acting normal. I'm watching her close just incase. She's being her normal self. Capri was never taken care of well until I adopted him. He had a good life though with me. Our tank is huge. I clean ALL the water once or twice a week. I feed them when they need to be fed. He was already a little bit sick looking. I just thought it was because he was a baby he was so weak. I'm sad but he's in another place. Greeny's fine though.
