Please can this very educated forum please assist me!
I really need some help my turtal basks only about 2 to 3 times a day
is that normal??
I read the site didnt give much advice!
Here a pic of my set up!





AND Also he only climbs up on the rocks when im not in the room and
the door is closed!!
Also i recently replaced the UVB light and put that in the WHITE lamp
And Took the 70watt bulnt and put it in the BLACK lamp THAT WHEN HE ACTUALLY STARTED TO BASK!!

NEW SET UP (Actually basks only 2 to 3times a day., White lamp UVB Black Lamp 70WATT heating)













Should I replace 70watt with Ceramic heating bulb and replace the white lamp with Exo-Terra Glo???

AND should i replace the 70 watt bulb with a Ceramic Heat Bulb??????????????? Would this provide better heating a less damm light its get to be very bright

I agree with coreyvht, deffinately add more water to the tank

Basking that often sounds fine to me but I guess that depends how long it stays on the basking area

the heat bulb you have is fine just raise the water level he/she could be basking more than you know its compleatly fine

o and plz take the gravel out you dont whant he/she to get impacted
(filled with rocks therfore cant poop and eventually die )

Eventually though yes PLEASE for the sake of your turtle take out the rocks or even now I guess couldn't hurt

I might be having a problem with ingested gravel and the guilt I feel for leaving it in there long enough for my turtle to possibly have decided to eat it is heavy! I hope you don't ever have to feel it!!!!

you would be supprised i had my friends baby res for a week and the tank she had it in had gravel and i watched him gobble one down so i took out the sand and my friend wasnt very happy but then i lectured (lol) about what he was doing and what was going to happen

No YAH i understand but hes only a baby he cant swalow the gravel yett.. in 6 to 1 year ill take the gravel out!!
But THE RESON I CANT WRITE NOW IS BECAUSE ROCKS WONT STACK UP AND I WONT HAVE A BASING AREA THEN THE ROCKS WONT STICK OUT OF THE WATER the BIG ROCKS

Your rocks also look pretty flat, you can stack one on top of the other

You need to put more water in. The attraction for them to bask is the difference in temperature. With so little water, there will be little difference between water and basking temperature.

Also turtles do sometimes end up on their back. Normally this is funny to watch as they seem to know something is wrong but it takes them a few seconds to work out what. If yours does it in current setup it could be fatal as it could struggle to get the right way up and drown as a result.

Your low water level also risks damaging filter and heater.

If you can not get a basking platform, then a smooth bigger rock be a short term answer
