What's the temp of the basking area and water (check them with a thermometer)? Does the basking area have both a UVB light and heat light?
A 10-gallon tank doesn't really leave much room for a "large basking area" unless it's a floating one (Zoo-Med?) or it's build above the tank. What kind is it?
Have you had your RES for the two months? If so, how much has he grown during that time?
Feeding every six hours is too much. How much is given at a feeding? A head-size amount once a day of pellets, for example, is enough until the turtle is a year old (assuming growth isn't too rapid). Then food like pellets can be offered every other day. Plant matter, though (like red-leaf lettuce or dandelion greens) can and should be offered daily. It's good to provide a balanced, varied diet.
