i have 3 res's they are all healthy. one turtle is much smaller than the others, my question is the largest turtle is walking up to him and extending his or her arms and then directing him where to go. is this mean or nice behavior?

from what i've read on the board, chances are higher that it's aggression. my aeryn got aggressive with my john, a habit i nipped in the bud. but i know better than to believe that's permanent. how big is the tank?

20 gallon tank, one is growing very quickly,one is medium and one has'nt seem to grow at all. as far as i know they are all only a few months old. the little one whom i call firefly . seems to be holding his own i can't seem to understand why he has'nt grown

You should separate them when feeding. It is not unusual for one turtle to out-compete the others. It can also lead to indirect aggression and you already have signs of it. On another note, if the size differences are significant, then they should not be kept together to begin with.

i would say the big one is almost 4 " middle 2 1/2" fire is about 1 inch

If they started out at the same size, then you definitely need to feed them separately and I think you should still keep the smaller ones away from the bigger one now. And it's likely aggression.

If the tank is large enough but it can be a hassle. You're already looking at an 80 gallon tank. How big is you tank now?

Yes they do, a guideline is 10 gallons of tank PER inch of shell length.
