I bought a half a dozen rosey reds from petsmart but put them in a plastic container insted of putting them in the tank for Sylar to eat because I had to run right to work. When my hubby came to get me at work, he asked me why I had a critter keeper full of dead fish at home...I thought he was messing with me. But when I got home they were ALL dead, and it was weird, they weren't exactly floating, some were "standing" with the head up and the tail down in the middle of the water....REALLY WEIRD. I was just glad I had't put them right in the tank, so they didn't make Sylar sick or anything. I'm more careful to examine the condition of the all the feeders in the tank before I buy now. I never thought to complain 'cause it was .77 cents worth of fish. They probably would have given me my .77 cents and just laughed at me behind my back. I don't care if they laugh, but it would probably cost more then .77cents in gas to get to Petsmart!

Most feeders that I buy and keep die overnight. Rosies seem to be a bit hardier, but not much. A lot of them have a bump or two on them and are reddish around the gills. Needless to say, it's been a couple of years since my turts hunted something that wasn't my finger.
