I actually have a log that is about half the hight of the water. He stops and hangs on it for a few mins then will swim on up after rested.
Big rock would work also. Fish tank decorations come in lots of sizes would work too.

Yes, underwater resting spots. They are submerged tall things that a turtle can hang onto, to take a breath, but still stay in the water. A three or four inch tall plant, a big rock, anything like that, or another submerged ramp, like tammi uses, can be an underwater resting spot.

Cap-it -- I did not realize that they lost that ability when placed in captivity. Mine swam to the bottom to hide when placed in a tank. m.

Sen5es.......Get a turtle dock and fill the tank.
Your turtle will be fine as long as he has a resting spot.Otherwise the only way it could drown is if it gets stuck underwater inside a cave or tangled in something.

Sen-5 --- That is what I ment about arrangement of ramp and other items in the tank. Place things so they don't get trapped. Other than that they should be able to swim just fine. m.

My turtles sleep on the basking dock. I would not raise the water level too high unless you have a basking area or somewhere where they can rest confortably out of water to breathe for long periods of time.

X-Fact -- Do your turtles sleep under water as well as on the basking rock?
