Love of Animals wrote:Only using one side to swim concerns me. Does he stick his feet out and try to use them or is he listing to the side while swimming? Most of us don't use gravel in our tanks. Many turtles will eat it and could possibly become impacted which could be deadly. Gravel can also lower water quality by trapping debris ( uneaten food, poop ). While we are trying to find out what's wrong with him raise his water temp to 80. The increased temp will help his immune system. Only do this while ill. Can you post a pic of his shell completely dry? Does he show any other signs of illness like swollen eyes, croaking sounds, yawning excessively, bubbles coming from his eyes or nose while out of water? Can he submerge completely easily? If you post a pic of your set up we can help you with that as well.
I'm not sure what listing is but he uses all his limbs, but he like grabs the glass and pushs and kind of walks on the gravel to get aroud.
We only really started to use gravel to make a ramp up to his basking dock because he struggled excessively before.
We are working on getting a water heater, so when we can we will increase the temp a bit.
His eyes are perfectly fine, i tried to get a picture of that in there. He doesn't make any noises, Ive only seen him yawn twice, and no bubbles come out of his eyes or nose while out of water. But then again, he isn't out of the water very often...
When he does hop off his basking dock he is able to swim down to the bottom or to where he wants with ease.
We will work on getting those two pictures for you, later today.
Because he isn't basking, and its been one full week without proper basking, should we put him in a smaller container and put the basking light on him? So he gets the full benefits of it. Let us know what you think. We will get those pictures up soon.
Thank you for all your help guys.
