Do you end up replanting, or do they leave enough for the water plants to regrow? I'd really like some lilly pads, but I know mine will eat them. They can be down right piggish. I love your pond, by the way! Or should I say ponds, lol.

I usually end up pulling the lilies out and putting them in the little little pond till they grow again.
The turts are really no different than the Koi fish which pretty much multilate whatever is left after the turts get done..lol
So I just throw a bunch of Anarcharis, Camboda, or Hornwort until the Hyacinths decide to produce enough babies to fully fill in the pond.
Last fall, I had over 200 hyacinths and the turtles must have thought they went to plant heaven..they ate every single plant. I bring some indoors for the winter and grow them in the fishtank but normally run out by March so the girls are usually quite hungry for them at this time of year when I can replace.
