Yes Love is the most important thing... If you love them, then you are willing to pay the $$$ and put the energy into them.

ive kept track of my spending on my turtles. even though i got the cage free form my parents and the rocks from the back yard there still $$ hogs. ive had mine for less than a year and have spent over 500 dollars, and there still in an inadequate tank. i cant get a new one since i have no money to spare now! But i think that they are tottaly worth it. every day i wake up to see my turtles on the basking rocks and give a cheezy grin and say "FEEEED MEEEEEEEE!" i love them to death.

my animals cost me more than my kids. Between 2 great danes, 2 small dogs, 1 cat, 6 macaw parrots, 2 small birds, the baby Red foots, and fish, I can't begin to even imagine what I spend a year. I make and sell my own bird toys to help out with cost, I bet I spend $80 a month in dog food...$40 in bird food, plus $30-40 in fruits and veggies, and then all the other stuff they need. Then vet visits, I just spent $70 today on a visit for arthritis meds for my 10 year old Dane. I even got a credit card just devoted to the animals in case of an emergency. It is Deffinatly LOVE..... I would spend 10 times more if they needed it. :)
