If he is on his dock when you come home, then he is definitely basking & I wouldn't be worried. Most turtles love peace & quiet & will bask during the day when there is no activity in your house. His basking behavior sounds very normal to me.

If you can get the water temp up to 78, that would be ideal, but honestly the 76 degree temp won't hurt him.

You are a very concerned turtle parent & I like your attitude!!! :)

And davidY is right, that is not a UVB bulb, just a UVA(heat) bulb. When you do get a UVB bulb. Make sure that it clearly says 'UVB' and that it has a UVB output around 5%.


She said she also has the UVB bulb too. :)
