i have a strip that came with the tank. problem is though its on the side so its hard to see. i also have a digital. i just think a temp gun would be fun to have. haha.

how long does his eyes stay like this before it will go away???

If his eye problem was caused by having a cold, it might not go away but get worse unless the cold is treated.

However, I'm very suspicious of the UVB light bulb. What brand and strength is it? Some UVB bulbs will seriously irritate a turtle's eyes.

its a 13 watt zilla uvb 25 fluorescent coil uvb light

both of the lights are about 5 inches above the basking rock...how many inches should they be away from the rock???

The UVB bulb should have directions telling you how far away to place it. Most say about 12 inches, so yours is definitely too close.
The position of the UVA bulb depends on how warm it gets the basking dock. The dock should be 10 degrees F warmer than the water.
