It's just the baby scute, I don't think I would be concerned about it. What's the basking temp?

I'm not entirely sure, there's a 100 watt UVA heat bulb turned up all the way.

I realized over the weekend that they are basking, they just refuse to do it whilst I'm around to see it. I catch them out of the corner of my eye basking on the dock, but if I make a sudden movement, or they notice me looking, they shoot off and hide, almost like they're embarrassed. I recognize the noise now as I enter the room.

Seeing as I'm out for 12 hours a day on weekdays, I'm thinking that they most likely bask a lot then.

They'll get used to you. I try to ignore my RES when they're basking. That way they know they won't get anything from me and won't bother to come down. It usually works and if they do slide down, they're back up after a few minutes.

I can't seem to start a new topic, I keep getting automatically logged out.

I need to transport the turtles for an hour long car journey tomorrow and I don't know how best to do it. I got them in an air tight plastic container filled with water from some turtle-farming [---] who didn't know anything about them. I don't know if it's safe to transport them in an air-tight container so I popped the lid. What is the best method?

Did you clear your cookies?

Sorry if this is too late, but you don't need to transport them in water? All that swooshing around wouldn't help. Large box lined with towels if probably the easiest way to do it.
