I just got back and put 10 guppies in the tank, and well my turtle doesnt even notice them.

he will ... it sounds like he needs to learn how to be a good swimmer ... he will .. just keep lots of water and like imderanged said , a resting spot near the top of the water is oved by my turtles. Good luck with your new edition.

Here is my turtles shell right now. Does it look like retained scutes?

It looks more like a situation of an improper diet and habitat. It doesn't look as bad as we've seen before, and better care can go a long way.

Ok. Well the turtle was only fed pellets the whole time the previous owner had him so maybe a year. Now i have the turtle eating veggies and pellets.

Don't forget calcium/cuttlebone, a good UVB light and basking area.

How much cuttle bone is to much? i put half of one in my turtles tank and a half hour later he had ate it all.

I don't think you can really over do it. From what Ive heard, they know how much to eat, and give them as much as they want. I'm sure that he is VERY calcium deficient, but personally, I wouldn't give him too much more for a day or so.
