General Care Discussion :: New to RES and wondering if this is my RES shedding?

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Great~! Glad to hear that. Finally your turtles eat the pellets :D

Carrots also good but not everyday, maybe once a week. You may cut the carrot into cubes or shred it for easy turtles to bite.

Hopefully with good proper care, diet and so on.. the fungus should be gone. Its just matter of time. Don't rushed. Its takes time.

Don't offer bloodworms anymore ok (once a month probably) maybe after your turtles really healthy and have good looking shells.

My RES Jaws had the same problem as a hatchling, He was growing too fast and started to pyramid. If you stick to feeding him as many pellets that will fit in his head excluding the neck, he'll literally grow out of it.

Yeah hes eating the pellets at the moment, and i bought cuttlebone im going to break it into pieces etc.

Is it ok to feed pellets and cuttlebone each day? and how much cuttlebone?

Also ill feed bloodworms every 2 months?

Thanks.

Make sure you scrape off the hard backing at the cuttlebone.

Yes it is okay to feed pellets together with cuttlebone. You may leave the cuttlebone inside the tank, when its gone, put another cuttlebone and continously.

I cut my cuttlebone into cubes, so everytime I see the cuttlebone is gone, I will add 3-4 more cubes.

Nope, the cuttlebones won't make the water dirty.. it just float on the surface of water. Depend how big is your cuttlebone cubes. Should put more than 2 cubes.

Whatever size you want, doesn't really matter and cuttlebones does not harm turtles..

So no matter how much cuttlebone they eat, they wont be overfed?

I try to keep several pieces (head-size or a bit smaller) floating in the tank and replace them as needed. Offering cuttlebone isn't the same as giving pellets.

I left cuttlebone overnight etc, they havnt eaten it, i siphon debris and stuff out of my tank every couple days, how often should i do a water change? 2ft tank, and the filter is for a 3ft tank.

Just an update, the RES that had the fungus is improving alot, the fungus is nearly gone from its shell since i made the changes. (cuttlebone & pellets instead of bloodworms!)

And also UV and basking is going well !
