General Care Discussion :: How am I doing?

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

So it's been a couple of months now since I've had lucy, and I believe I'm doing an o.k. job of keeping her happy. I just want to see if anyone has more suggestions, or maybe I might have overlooked something.

Lucy is about 1", she is in a 10 gal tank with a filter designed for a 20 gal tank.
She has a basking platform, UVB and UVA lights, and a fake piece of driftwood for her to climb around on underwater.

For food I feed her 1 repomin sticks 2x a day. I've recently started to add some lettuce (Is it possible to overfeed a turtle on lettuce? Or underfeed?)
I'm working on growing anarcharis, and I put a little in the tank and she gobbled it up. I have a little piece of cuttlebone also in the tank, and she takes an occasional bite at it.

Water temp is around 80-83 degrees, and I have to buy a new thermometer for the basking platform because the current one is malfunctioning.

What i've noticed is my tank is collecting brown algae on the bottom. It's easily scrapped off, but grows back quickly. I'm not overly concerned with aesthetic appearances as long as it doesn't bother lucy.

So am I missing anything? Any comments are welcome.

Sounds very good. Lucy is lucky to have you. Pictures can be very helpful but it sounds like you're doing well.

The brown stuff on the bottom might not be algae. There are "dead spots" in my tank where water can't circulate and muck or gunk can accumulate there.
