General Care Discussion :: called the vet again today

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Wed Aug 01, 2007 1:47 am   called the vet again today

got his vitamin A capsule perscription re-filled.
and his swollen eye seems to be getting better, but im not entirely sure.
he can almost shut his mouth ALL the way! but that purple thing on the bottom of his mouth still doesnt look too grand, but it isnt getting any worse!
i just wish he would be a little more active.
and i wish he would eat =/

Keep in mind turtles take a loooong time to recover fully. Watch for signs of increased activity and appetite.

Are you trying to tempt him with really tasty food, like shrimp or boiled chicken? Tuna fish in water is a huge favorite with a lot of turtles.

These goodies are only for the turtle while he's sick, of course. When he's healthy they should only be offered once in a while as a treat.

You might even try the extreme foods to entice eating... canned cat food or some unfrozen raw shrimp.
