General Care Discussion :: turtle white spot

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

My turtle has a tiny white spot on the shell. The turtle is about 1 inch and is doing perfectly fine. She swims around and eats well. But she doesn't bask much, and she is scared when i go by her. Also...she is not shedding yet. And there is gray stuff that won't come off between her shell pieces. I really want to know what the white spot is and what the gray is too. I will try to post a picture soon. ( it is really hard to take pictures of her because she is always moving and my camera sucks!!) Thanks for all the answers!! :)

The gray you're seeing is probably the seams between the scutes. The white spots could be anything.

Is the grey area more of a line? Is it more visible in the water? If so, that's the seam, and it indicates that your turtle is growing.

For the white area (and the gray area if it's not what I just described), take a picture of the shell when it's dry.
