Groucho was swimming and I saw what looked like a piece of string attached to him , but it was comming from him, its thin and white , he is acting normal begging for food everytime I go near the tank, swimming and chasing the fish , basking does anyone have a idea or should I take him for a checkup? :?:

Is it coming off of his skin, shell, mouth? Does it look like when you have a sunburn and you're peeling (that means he's shedding)?

Was it coming out of his cloaca (poop hole)? If so, it could be a tapeworm...

Can you post a pic of it?

If it's coming from where he eliminates and you're concerned, a vet visit with a stool sample would be the thing to do.

Did you quarantine the new turtle after you got him or just put him in with the older one?

He eats fish, even occasionally? Live prey can carry parasites. Perhaps the other turtle has it. If he does and poops and Groucho eats it, well...

Stool samples for both turtles would be good.

There are few pics of others who have had this situation. If you find them, maybe you can tell us if it is similar.

I took him to the vet this morning, he says if he had one its gone now, he is in perfect health and so is Tuck, I thought if I bring one I might as well bring the other although Groucho is pretty good with things like that, Tuck seemed to be a nervous wreck , so I am just letting him be quiet in his tank now, he seems to get so stressed out, I wish he was more like Groucho , not scared or nervous
