Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Sun Sep 23, 2007 11:11 pm   OMG!! GUESS WHAT HAPPENED?! PIX PIX.....

Tobi was acting gravid AGAIN for the last few days...and Im like NO WAY, since she had just laid her 1st 4 eggs on the 9th of this month!

Well, I took her out; she took about 20 minutes to find a spot and then she dug and dug like last time....then it got dark (thank goodness for a flash!! and a light...) And she laid 6 more eggs!!!!!!!! I didnt take them out this time. I just let her cover them up. (Hopefully this is IT for this year...) But it still was awesome!!! Hubby stayed out with me and watched it all! We couldnt believe that there were 6!!! She had the xray which only showed 2 eggs about a month ago. (DONT believe xrays ya'll!!!)

She laid almost in the same spot as last time; right by the fence. (So I could see her booty)

So, my little lady laid 10 eggs total!!! :)

WOW!!!! SO many eggs!

LOL she looks like she's meditating in the picture where she's burying the eggs!

The infertile eggs will probably end up as a healthy snack for some other critter, eh?

What does a turtle egg feel like? Leathery?

Hey!
The eggs feel just a bit thinner than a chicken egg. And look the same inside.
And YES she was meditating!!! And I bet my doggies will dig up the eggs...if they find em. She did an awsome job burying them.

Yeah 10 eggs! Thats what I thought! For her 1st lay I though 4 would have been sufficient since the xray saw only 2. But then when she had 6 tonite...I was freaking! :) Such a neat experience!

Isn't that amazing! She's quite a girl. Now you know exactly where she wants to lay her eggs so it will be easy in the future when she does it again. I wonder if she'll do it again in a few more weeks?

There must be a process going on inside of forming a few eggs, laying them, then forming some more right away as soon as space permits.

Man Spots.....I HOPE this is it! I LOVE to see this happen, it is awesome, BUT the gravid behaviour...its so crazy, just like a person on speed! lol

But yeah, I didnt think of it that way about forming then laying as space permits..makes sense!?! But still kinda strange...

Like I said..hope no more til around this time next year! lol

Tenodera- well I gave her a smaller worm. She LOVES worms! But she did eat one this afternoon...so now she is eating all the stuff in the bottom corners of her tank and just "chillin" out. :) So, she's all good!

Yes they were! I wanted to dig them out too...but since last time I moved her and grabbed them out then put her back on top to cover the hole (the eggs were already breaking) ...this time I figured I would let her just cover them up and I would leave them. I thought they would just break if I dug them up.

I would have loved to have taken them out though and took pix...but I will leave well enough alone! :)
