I had the pencil in my hand and i wanted to draw his attention so i put it up,
I knew he was going to try to bite it, so i took it away, then i put it back.

And this is what happend

this doesnt realy indicate anything. I've seen it happen with 1 inch hatchlings. You'd still have to wait a while before you can tell whether he is male or female.

Fluttering means a variety of things - aggression as well as part of a mating ritual. Turtles of all ages and sexes do it. It doesn't mean little Tito has grown up - he's (or she's) got a ways to go.

Now fanning, that's something else altogether.

Ha! He sure looks proud of himself in that last photo! Spot bites at the edging of his aquarium too. I stop him every time I catch him at it. I hope I won't come into the room some day and find all 70 gallons of water on the floor.

Funny thing you mentioned that. I and others on this forum have seen it happen once, the person even recorded it on camera. It also happened to a certain someone who I do not want to mention, turtle. Her's and the person on this forum never experienced anything out of the ordinary except for this and nothing bad came about after that...so, i'd say it's OK - as to why they do it? Who know's, why do some people decide to write with their feet? Because they just can? Guess the same goes for them, right?

I don't think you have anything to worry about Safdar. Just watch the seal around your tank and make sure none of it is leaking. If it does, then just reseal it aquarium glue :D I love Tito's little expressions.
