From what I've heard, turtle can only eat in the water because they need the water to swallow.

And for the dry area for eating...do you mean she doesnt have any dry areas in her tank?

SHE HAS A FLOATING DOCK. JUST SET HER UP IN A 55 GALLON. REALLY HAVING A HARD TIME GETTING IT ALL THE WAY IT NEEDS TO BE. SHE WON'T GET UP ON THE FLOATING DOCK. BEEN LOOKING AND LOOKING AT PICS HERE. THINKING OF PUTTING HER SOME ROCKS FROM THE POND IN THE TANK. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE HELPFUL, PICS EVEN BETTER. THANKS

For my tank, I have a dock like yours too. My turtles have tried and tried to get betweek the plastic bars on the top in the basking area. They finally figured out that they are just to big and they stoped. My little baby turtle though can still fit through it easily and under the bars that are under the water too.

For my tank, the water is filled up about 3/4 of the tank, and the tank is a 20 gallon. I am upgrading VERY soon. And for the rocks you are suggesting, I have about 6-7 in my tank on the ground in one corner and my turtles really love them. I also have a hiding spot for them too.

And you have a UVA and UVB bulb right?

In the photo gallery I have a pic of my tank set-up (my old one) I just cleaned it out yesterday and redecorated it all.

And I think I am forgeting something..?

Ur res can only eat in water and if u do put the food on a dry area most likely he will grab it and just drag it into the water..also It took my res awhile to bask because there shy in their new environment and he may be doing it when ur out of the room. I used to peak my head around the corner and thats how i found out he was..

I do have the lights for her. She doesn't have a dry area in the 55 yet. She has a big rock but it doesn't get her out of the water. Right now she is just having fun rubbing her shell underneath the floating dock. What is a good distance between her and the lights she needs. Lot of difference from 20 to 55 gallon.

Hehe, that what I do right now, my turtles moved into their new tank recently and I have peak from a distance, usually finding them all stacked on top of each other on the platform. If i go near, the smaller one darts into the water, into his hiding spot under the internal filter, sometimes the other two joins him, sometimes not, depends on my luck :P ..
