Ok, first of all... I didn't have much money in the past due to the fact that
I didn't have a job... I mean, look at the poor setup ( don't smack me ):

- 10 gallon tank
- Cheap water heater
- Basking dock that often fell into the water... ( Eek! The suction cups sucked)
- 25watt UVA bulb w/ no UVB lights
- Fluval 1 plus ( Well actually this is decent )

However, here's the good news:
I have gathered enough money now to buy tons of new stuff for my turtles
well-being!

- 50 gallon tank
- Basking dock, medium sized. ( Bought it from DrsFosterSmith.com )
- 2 clamp lamp
- Repti-glo 5.0 compact bulb ( UVB )
- Incandescent bulb 75 watt ( UVA )
- Fluval 4 Plus Filter
- Visi-therm Stealth Heater 200 Watt
- Coralife Digital Thermometer

Total = Almost $300.00

Do you think my turtle will be happier now? lol.
Also, I have a question: How far away from the basking dock should
the UVB & UVA lamp be?

WOW! Sounds like a GREAT upgrade you are making! I bet your turtles will LOVE it!
The basking lamp should probably be between 6-10 inches away from the dock.

Nice upgrades! I've always noticed that prices for stuff can vary wildly from store to store (or site to site), always shop around......
The position of the UVA basking (heat) bulb depends on it's intensity. Adjust the height until the basking area is about 90F (use your new thermometer to measure it). You may have to play with it to get it just right.

Her shell looks VERY healthy to me. If you want me to be picky about it, then I can say they could use a good shedding, but other then that, it looks VERY nice.

LOL awesome then. By the way, what will help them shed their scute? ( Is that what you call it ? )

And uh... are ceramic clamp lamps all right to use for both UVB & UVA
bulbs?

S-Lavender -- Your turtle looks just fine. Keep the water at 78/79 degrees and good lighting and it will out live you. They can live 20 to 30 years no problem. b.

Ceramic lamps are great, so long as the wattage is high enough for whatever bulb you're putting in there.

Your turtle looks very healthy! I'd submit that first pic to the photo contest!
