General Care Discussion :: Turtles To Good Home Only

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Thu Jan 31, 2008 7:06 pm   Turtles To Good Home Only

I currently have 7 red eared sliders which has become quite a task to maintain and care for. As they have gotten older I have had to keep most of them separated. I wanted to see if perhaps there was anyone locally who would like 1 or 2 of them if they could provide the proper set up and care. If not I will keep them and care for them. I am near Sacramento California.

Have you contacted the California Turtle and Tortoise Club? www.tortoise.org They're likely to have a chapter near you. Perhaps they could help, at least with contacts.

You could also post on the local Craigslist, giving an appropriate warning about them going to a good home. I'm very far away from you and my husband would kill me if I wanted to spend another small fortune on a tank setup!

Unfortunately our local Craigslist already has other turtles listed from time to time. I just thought this forum would be good as people here really know how to properly care for them. So many other people really have no idea of the commitment involved. Also there is not a local chapter of the turtle club here near Sacramento. I really do love these guys and would only give them to a special home.
Thanks,
Pam

Hey, another thought. Check with elementary schools and/or colleges. Many college professors and clubs like to take care of animals, and elementary schools would be perfect as long as the students and teacher understands the dangers of keeping pets. I remember my elementary classes always had a menagerie of pets, hamsters, snakes.
