Hey all!
I think I finally fixed the water problem in my tank! Yeah! Finally.
As everyone kept telling me it had to be the filter and I could not think of anything that I did differently EXCEP when I changed the carbon out, the store did not have the pre-packed carbon for my filter so in my haste I bought loose carbon and filled my own bags. BIG MISTAKE!
When I took the filter apart this weekend, I notice that the force of the water pushed the bags aside and clumped them up to the middle rather than staying flat in the baskets. This left alot of room for junk to get by. I did do a complete water change as I could not control the alge but I used distilled water and when that seemed to go well I began adding regular water. So far no cloudiness.
A lesson learned for me! No more loose carbon, I'm keeping a supply of filters on hand.
Thank you again for all your help with this, keep your fingers crossed that that is really what it was!

Jt-- If you made a 100% water change you will most likely get cloudiness due to new tank syndrome. When that occures you will need to make 50% water changes until it clears up. You can keep an eye on it with your test kit. You will have to get your bacteria started in your filter media. Good Luck!!
