General Care Discussion :: White color in shell?

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

It looks as if my baby res David has a whitish color in between the scutes on his shell. I have had him for about a month now and he seems to be in fine health. Is this part of the normal growing procedure or is it something I should be concerned about?

Do you mean that the seam/line in between the scutes is a whitish color? If so, is it really visible when he's in the water? If this is what you're talking about, it sounds like he's growing---the seam will take on a whitish/pale gray color that's most noticeable when the shell is under water.

If what I've described isn't what you mean, then posting a pic (when the shell is dry) would be good.

What is your turtle's diet like---what do you feed, how much and how often?

Yes underwater it looks like a whitish gray color in the seams of his scutes. I feed them once daily and try to stick to the idea of feeding them as many pellets that would fit in their head. I feed them Tetra ReptoMin for babies. I also try romaine lettuce a few times a week. Thanks for the info.
