General Care Discussion :: Are they shedding?

My two res shells look like they are almost turning a lighter color with some white on the scutes. Does this sound normal for shedding?

When your turtle is in the water does it look like goldish areas on the shell? Kinda like air trapped underneath? If so, your turtle is getting ready to shed. Mine never gets white spots though.

Can you post a picture?
From that description it could be normal shedding but it definitely could be a shell issue.

and this guy is Johan
To me their shells look lighter in color and around the edges look almost whitish in color. Let me know if these pics are good enough. Thanks.

The pictures are really good. However, we could tell even better if their shells were dry. Would you mind trying it one more time?

Is the skin on Johan's head also turning white, or is that just a reflection of the light?

I think the white spot on Johans head is a reflection. I didnt dry his head.

My turtles have the same thing, but I don't know what it is.

I'm looking at the first two pics (the newer ones are quite dark)---judging from the wide seam (line in between the scutes) and the rather large translucent yellow edges on the marginal scutes, it looks like scutes are getting ready to shed.
