recently my heat lamp fell in and it broke. It also killed a goldfish. Are there any better clamps? I think it didnt hold very well because the side of the tank has a plastic rim for holding a screen on top. The only thing i could think of was putting a screen for the lamp to go on. I just dont want a covered tank.

I have 2 Flukers with no problems. Its all about how you have them positioned.

Lots of people suspend the light fixture over the tank, hanging it from the ceiling or wall. Some people use floor lamps that will accomodate turtle light bulbs. I never cared for the clamp fixtures.

Here's a very nice example of wall mounted light fixtures, along with instructions for making the attachment.

If you brouse around in the photo section and in the gallery in the Habitat section of the main site you'll see lots of other good examples.

What kind of heat lamp are you using? Can you have a screen over just the lamp area?

I was having an issue with my clamp when I built my Above Tank Basking Area. To solve this problem I mounted an L bracket to the wall (you know, the brackets used to hold shelves up) and suspended my lamp from that by wrapping its cord around it.

Im not using right now because it broke. I think I can put a scteen over part of the tank, if there is a screen that fits. Its possible that i will make an above tank basking platform, but im not sure.
