General Care Discussion :: Shell question

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Fri Jun 13, 2008 10:48 am   Shell question

Meg made a comment about making sure Krueger can completely dry off to avoid shell issues (thx btw) and he can dry off completely and does regularly, BUT, Krueger had not been out of the water for 2 years when I got him a month and a half ago (the person had not taken care of him properly) But, his shell looks good to me (according to everything I've read on here) So, my question is, now that he is taken care of properly and dries off and basks regularly, could shell issues could still come up LATER (due to the 2 years prior of not drying off)? Is there something I should watch for?

As long as he can get out now (and actually is coming all the way out sometimes), and you have the proper lighting now, then you'll have no worries. Any shell problems would have developed when he was in the poor habitat, and would only get better with a proper home :)
