General Care Discussion :: Should I be worried?

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Krueger has been sleeping a whole lot the last few days. Everytimg I look in on him he's asleep. Today, I caught him sleeping at the bottom of the tank a few tiems, which he never does. He's been sleping all night on his dock (which he rarely does, but never ALL night). When I wake him (by staring at him...lol) he acts normal and starts begging for food. I haven't noticed any other odd behavior. Why is he so sleepy???

Frankie went through a "sleepy time" about a month ago, where she was napping both in the water and on the basking area frequently for a few days. Then, just as quickly, she was back to normal.

If the temps are normal, and the water is clean, just keep an eye out for anything else unusual.

that makes me feel better! i hope it's a phase. that little guy knows how to worry me. last night i dreamed i went in there and he was mouth breathing  thank goodness that was just a dream.

the conditions in the tank are optimal, so i'll just keep an eye out. thanks!

hm i remeember that happened to Rolo but she was acctualy sick from this Biotize stuff in her tank. then again she was genuinely sick and not just in sleepy time mode she litteraly stopped eating and just slept wouldnt come out for anything and i knew something was up when she acctually tried to bite me ( she's not a huge biter) . as long as he still begs for food and acts normal when he's active i wouldn't worry about it.

He's doing okay Steve. He's still sleeping more than usual and he has a habit now of sleeping on the dock at night pretty much every night. But, I haven't heard of that being harmful at all and as you know, I'm needing him to dry out a lot so bascially he's dry docking himself all night! So, I kind of think that's a plus right now. I haven't noticed any other odd behavior. He's still eating normally and swimming on and off all afternoon. Thanks for asking! So, you think it could just be a phase?

Crush has been sleeping regularly as well. Before he would barely sleep but now he sleeps while basking early in the morning and goes to sleep right when his lights go out. But this didn't start until he really started to shed so maybe he is shedding?

I HOPE SO! He is starting to shed a little. I'm actually working hard to promote shedding for him right now so that would be AWESOME! He's been sleeping while basking too!

How warm is the room he's in?
