General Care Discussion :: How often do captive adults lay eggs?

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I thought that Ichigo was all of a sudden getting fat and started to reduce her intake when tonight I thought that the pudge I saw might possibly be eggs? She has been swimming at the side of her tub much more the past few days...

It's too late at night to bother her to check with my hands but I figured I would ask for future reference anyway. I will palpitate her in the morning.

How often do they lay eggs?
I have no idea how old she is but she is a whopping 10".
I know that when she had x-rays back in early June there was nothing.

Also how long do eggs take to "grow" inside the female before they are ready to come out?

These were two questions I couldn't find answers for after doing searches.
Thanks!

How often? 3-4 clutches a season is possible, but it's based on the individual turtle.

How long to grow? After the mating ritual is done, it can take 2-3 weeks to become gravid, so without the mating ritual, it should take 2-3 weeks to become gravid also.
