General Care Discussion :: another worm question

So I was just changing Orlando's tank and I took out the filter pads to spray them off and laced in the blue covering were these little gray-ish black worms. None appeared to move at all. But This did worry me a bit.

I've never seen these things at all. I've had him for 4 months now and I've never noticed any thing weird (ie worms) in his waste. I do on occasion have those little fruit flies buzzing annoyingly in my house, and was hoping these worms were the larvae. They're only in the filter pad, not in the tank. (Orlando's tank is a 40gal with an over the back filter.)

Any ideas?

Ok I just discovered these worms are also in Sisqo's tank. These were moving though, they're also in his filter pads. And they are very much alive and black-er than the others. I blame the fruit flies... because I can't think of anything else. I've had Sisqo for 10 years and never had problems with him. (His tank is a 55 gal with an over the back filter also)

Are they tiny worms?
I've had problems with my frog tank at one time with little white wiggling worms (planaria I thi nk). They look black in the filter after dying.

Katie- It's a 40 gal, with just some random over the back filter, it's supposed to process It's a "filter for a 55 gal." It works well cleaning the tank, except the worms lol

Lorj- They are blackish in color but they could be dead, as I said before they don't move at all.

I'm soaking the filter, lift tube, and pads in a white vinegar and water solution as was suggested by steve in a different post.

Sway-P -- When referring to a filter that is supposed to take care of 55 gallon. Is that from a pet store--- Turtle's filter pump should pump at least a 5 times the water volume that is in the tank. When dealing with turtles you have to think in gph. Think in gph --- b.

I know the gph rule (which actually states on this site that it's 3x the amount of gallons per hour), I just don't remember what these two are. The information in the boxes told what the gph was, I just forgot :/ I made sure they were appropriate when I bought them
