General Care Discussion :: African sideneck turtle info/help...

I saw this African sideneck turtle at a pet store near my house, it was about 5-6 inches long, I was just wondering if I could get more info on them. I have an empty 50 gallon, would that work? Also what other accessories do I need. I've made a list and so far this is what I got...Filter, basking spot, air pump, heater, decent sized gravel, UVB light, Basking light...ohh and do I need to cycle the tank before adding the turtle? any help would be great..Thanks

beautiful turtle! sorry i dont know much more than that! i hear they are easy to take care of. honestly though, the 55 would be fine for now but if you have a female and it gets as big as an RES female i would try to upgrade. ten gallons for every inch of turtle. so 4 inches = 40 gal.
