Don't let the vet give him a vitamin A shot unless there is a good reason for it. A lot of turtles have adverse reactions and get sick or die from them. As long as Patches is still eating, tell the vet you'd rather feed him vitamin A through food if possible.

Try to collect a stool sample beforehand and bring it with you, even if you don't think it needs tested. That will save you a second trip to the vet if the vet wants a stool sample. My mom used to always do that with her cats when she took them in.

first off, i'd love to know WHERE you found a vet because i couldn't find one even CLOSE to the lowcountry. I'd have to drive all the way up past Charleston.

to transport Patches put him in a cardboard box with a dry towel. If it's cold out hand warmers work well to keep him warm. Put him in the back seat, and don't take him out while driving!

i agree with the stool sample, the vet will probably ask for one. Feed patches in a seperate tank and then wait for him to do his business! put it in a rubbermaid container with some of the tank water, too.

I am taking him in one in Greenwood, I know these is someone that does it in Duncan too .

Yeah I am trying to get him to feed , in a separate thing but he won't . When I get back home I am going to let him stay in the separate on all day .

Wrap the handwarmers in a small towel or other cloth.
