General Care Discussion

So were FINALLY getting ready to move monday sicne we just now finally got everything with the new house straightened out. Anyway, the movers are coming Monday but I want to move Niko tomorrow and since he/she will be going into an empty room until the furniture comes I dont have a way to really hook up both the heat and UV lamps and I feel the heat / basking lamp is the more important one given my situation. So ya, will Nikop be ok for about 24-30 hrs without a UV source ?

Yes, thats more than fine. Do make sure his water heaters are working and the temp is in the right range.

Will do, I'll just have to siphon the water out to heater level and carry it over somehow so I wont have to recycle his / her tank with fresh water. As far as temps go I usually keep basking around low to mid 90's and water at a constant 80 degrees, Niko seems to love it.

The water temp is a little high for your turtle. If they are small, 2" or less try 77 yo 78 degrees and if he is three inches or more try 75 to 77 degrees. You should go up to 80 degrees when they are ill. M.

80 is what I was originally told to keep the water at and Niko seems to like it and its not overly hot / warm so I'll just leave it at that probably for the rest of his / her life.

My temp suggestions are just that. What ever works for you and your turtles? I have been raising turtles for over 27 years and what I suggest to you comes from my experience and with the general consciences here. There is a lot of experience on this forum and in most cases I agree. We are all about what is best for your turtle. Good Luck! m.
